Helping New Members Adapt to the Forest Hill Family
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many. I Corinthians 12:13-14
How We Serve
Welcome Home to One Heart Ministry! At the Church of Christ in Forest Hill, we believe that no one should ever feel like a stranger in God’s house. Our One Heart Ministry is specifically designed to bridge the gap between “visiting” and “belonging.”
The heart of our ministry is simple: to demonstrate the love of Christ. We are dedicated to making every individual feel like a vital part of our church family from the very first moment they join us. Whether you are a new convert beginning your spiritual journey or a seasoned believer placing your membership at Forest Hill, we are here to walk beside you.
We understand that being at a new congregation can be intimidating. Our primary goals are to:
- Eliminate Fear: We provide a warm, guided transition into our community.
- Encourage Unity: We foster an atmosphere where everyone is accepted in our fellowship.
- Glorify God: We display the beauty of a united church body working toward one purpose.
The members of One Heart Ministry are more than just a welcoming committee; we are partners in your spiritual walk. We are committed to doing whatever is necessary to enhance your worship experience and ensure you feel truly at home.
How We Engage
-
New Member Orientation – Upon being baptized at the Church of Christ in Forest Hill, or placing membership here from another Church of Christ in the brotherhood, new members are welcomed and given orientation information. This may include meeting members of our leadership, getting informational documents, and learning of class series that further orient new members.
-
Classes – Periodically, a new member orientation class is held on Sunday morning. During this class new members get a tour of the facilities, learn how to get involved with various ministries, and interact with leaders and other new members. Watch for announcements about when new member classes are held.
